Varjoia SC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Ernesto Medeiros 8 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Christiano Nunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelinho Dantas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Varjoia SC's Luizinho Meireles got a free kick in the 13th minute. 18 minutes into the match, Varjoia SC's goalkeeper Christiano Nunes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alexandre da Cunha. Christiano Nunes acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 20th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Luisinho Vergílio. Varjoia SC's Christiano Nunes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonçalo Vale in the 22nd minute of play. 23 minutes into the game, Ernesto Medeiros recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Christiano Nunes. Ernesto Medeiros showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Christiano Nunes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gonçalo Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. After having played for 34 minutes, Ernesto Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Abertao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ernesto Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Murillo Damião hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Gonçalo Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot. Abertao's supporters rose to their feet, but Gonçalo Vale was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christiano Nunes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 39 minutes of play, Abertao's Marcelinho Dantas made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Christiano Nunes was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonçalo Vale in the 43rd minute of play forced Varjoia SC's goalkeeper Christiano Nunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hortêncio Botelho made a kick off. Alexandre da Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christiano Nunes having to interfere. In the 59th minute Gonçalo Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christiano Nunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 60 minutes into the match, Abertao's goalkeeper Amílton Paes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hortêncio Botelho. After some careless play in the Varjoia SC defense, Gonçalo Vale kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christiano Nunes. The Varjoia SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christiano Nunes should have stopped the shot. Christiano Nunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre da Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amílton Paes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walmir Barral, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 75 minutes into the game, when Luizinho Meireles put in a rough tackle. In the 74th minute, one of Varjoia SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Varjoia SC. Délio Cavalcante walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Gonçalo Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christiano Nunes having to interfere. Christiano Nunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonçalo Vale in the 89th minute of play. Ernesto Medeiros took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Christiano Nunes. Christiano Nunes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. The supporters of Abertao booed when Varjoia SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murillo Damião didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abertao's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
