The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pedro Luís da Fonseca's late challenge caught a GRASSHOPPERS F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 3rd minute, Pedro Luís da Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 8 minutes into the game, Raphael Alvarenga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GRASSHOPPERS F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Catipora the free kick. Catipora's Túlio Capixaba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erik Pitta in the 18th minute of play. Isaltino Martins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Şenol Yaren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Túlio Capixaba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Erik Pitta's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. After some careless play in the Catipora defense, Erik Pitta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Túlio Capixaba. The Catipora fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Túlio Capixaba should have stopped the shot. Pedro Luís da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şenol Yaren having to interfere. Pedrão Motta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Túlio Capixaba read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Pedrão Motta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Túlio Capixaba having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Catipora's Dinei Motta got a free kick in the 61st minute. After 67 played minutes Catipora got a freekick which was hit by Dinei Motta. With a little luck, Catipora's Túlio Capixaba got control of the ball when Erik Pitta tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as João Adolfo Aguiar kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Túlio Capixaba. That made the score 0-2 in the 71 minute of play. After a rather tough play, GRASSHOPPERS F.C's Gabriel de Sena got a free kick in the 75th minute. Túlio Capixaba came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by GRASSHOPPERS F.C's Erik Pitta. But to his dismay, Erik Pitta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. With a little luck, Catipora's Túlio Capixaba got control of the ball when Erik Pitta tried to sneak it across the goal line. Erik Pitta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Túlio Capixaba made a huge save. Túlio Capixaba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erik Pitta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Catipora booed when GRASSHOPPERS F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Pitta didn't get a good kick on the ball. GRASSHOPPERS F.C's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
