The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a little luck, Andresa's Afonsinho Favoretto got control of the ball when Pedro Luís da Fonseca tried to sneak it across the goal line. Breno Vieira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 12 minutes into the game, Jorge Toledo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Andresa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Catipora the free kick. In the 13th minute, Breno Vieira sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Andresa's Afonsinho Favoretto didn't even have to move. 18 minutes into the match, Rubinho Araújo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Catipora's Túlio Capixaba. Túlio Capixaba was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Afonsinho Favoretto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Breno Vieira in the 22nd minute of play. Andresa's Afonsinho Favoretto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Andresa from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Catipora's Pedro Luís da Fonseca slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Afonsinho Favoretto. That made the score 1-1 after 25 minutes of play. 29 minutes into the match, Andresa's goalkeeper Afonsinho Favoretto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Luís da Fonseca. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Breno Vieira in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Afonsinho Favoretto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 31st minute, one of Andresa:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Andresa. Andresa:s Afonsinho Favoretto showed great skill when he stopped Breno Vieira:s penalty. After some careless play in the Andresa defense, Breno Vieira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Afonsinho Favoretto. The Andresa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Afonsinho Favoretto should have stopped the shot. 46 minutes into the match, Andresa's goalkeeper Afonsinho Favoretto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Luís da Fonseca. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rubinho Araújo to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Catipora's zone, Claudinei Ferraz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Túlio Capixaba came out of the goal and Claudinei Ferraz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Valério Perez kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Andresa's Afonsinho Favoretto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Breno Vieira in the 60th minute of play. After 64 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Catipora! In the 66th minute there was a penalty for Andresa. Róbson Travassos stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Túlio Capixaba. 2-2. When Ernesto Paiva fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Catipora's protests and gave Ernesto Paiva a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Catipora's Ernesto Paiva got a free kick in the 71st minute. After having played for 72 minutes, Róbson Travassos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Andresa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Róbson Travassos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 74 minutes into the game, Isaltino Martins was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Catipora's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Andresa the free kick. Isaltino Martins kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. After 75 played minutes Catipora got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Luís da Fonseca. The supporters of Catipora booed when Andresa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hortêncio Ceresso didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Breno Vieira in the 78th minute of play forced Andresa's goalkeeper Afonsinho Favoretto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Andresa players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Catipora from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
