But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wellington Penha couldn't finish the play. Maurinho Sarmento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Túlio Cearense, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Raphael Fantini hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Norberto Messias got in the 38th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Maurinho Sarmento handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Beberibe's Isaltino Meira got a free kick in the 39th minute. When Túlio Cearense was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 40 minutes had been played. Raí Gaúcho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurinho Sarmento having to interfere.

Maurinho Sarmento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Norberto Messias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Beberibe fully deserved thier win.
