Claudinei Figueiredo's late challenge caught a Petrolina FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudinei Figueiredo helped the player get up and apologised. The audience was convinced that César Motta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Túlio Capixaba was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. 16 minutes into the match, Catipora's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Guilherme de Amorim came free, but Túlio Capixaba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by César Motta in the 19th minute of play forced Catipora's goalkeeper Túlio Capixaba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Durvalino Maia came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Petrolina FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Durvalino Maia couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durvalino Maia in the 22nd minute of play forced Catipora's goalkeeper Túlio Capixaba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Serafim Romero was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 23 minutes into the match. After 24 played minutes Catipora got a freekick which was hit by Serafim Romero. Beto Pombal struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Túlio Capixaba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Petrolina FC. In the 33rd match minute, Catipora was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felipe Simão to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Luiz Guilherme de Amorim managed to get in a good position for a shot. Petrolina FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Guilherme de Amorim was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Túlio Capixaba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Túlio Capixaba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from César Motta in the 36th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the game, Petrolina FC's Luiz Guilherme de Amorim nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Túlio Capixaba made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. The supporters of Petrolina FC booed when Catipora was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaltino Martins didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling César Motta in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Túlio Capixaba prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Túlio Capixaba came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by Petrolina FC's Luiz Guilherme de Amorim. But to his dismay, Luiz Guilherme de Amorim quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luiz Guilherme de Amorim made a kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Luiz Guilherme de Amorim kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Túlio Capixaba. That made the score 0-6 in the 59 minute of play. Túlio Capixaba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Guilherme de Amorim in the 62nd minute of play. Catipora's Túlio Capixaba proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Catipora from getting a goal against them. 70 minutes into the game, Petrolina FC's Durvalino Maia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Túlio Capixaba made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-7. 74 minutes into the match, Catipora's goal looked a bit too open when Durvalino Maia came free, but Túlio Capixaba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Catipora's Túlio Capixaba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Guilherme de Amorim in the 78th minute of play. Willian de Salles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Túlio Capixaba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 84th minute, César Motta made a precise shot to the right of Túlio Capixaba. Catipora's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-8. The audience thought a goal was coming when César Motta got free with Túlio Capixaba in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luiz Guilherme de Amorims short, quick shot in the 99thth minute got Túlio Capixaba to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
