Clube de Regatas Flalengo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tarcisio Fantini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With an all-out effort, Goiás Esporte Clube's Nestor de Godoi threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dênis Faria, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Luiz Fabiano de Sena came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Clube de Regatas Flalengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Fabiano de Sena couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Goiás Esporte Clube booed when Clube de Regatas Flalengo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduardo Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st match minute, Clube de Regatas Flalengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvinho Soeiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 22nd minute Edgard Cabral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor de Godoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvinho Soeiro during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 24 played minutes Clube de Regatas Flalengo got a freekick which was hit by Silvinho Soeiro. Goiás Esporte Clube's Edgard Cabral got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Emanuel Souto kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. 34 minutes into the game, Lenílson Soeiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Daniel Schmidt was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 39 minutes into the match, Edgard Cabral had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nestor de Godoi. Clube de Regatas Flalengo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edgard Cabral was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Nestor de Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dênis Faria in the 43rd minute of play. If Lenílson Soeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edgard Cabral to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Dênis Faria notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Clube de Regatas Flalengo's Nestor de Godoi. Nestor de Godoi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Edgard Cabral scored 4-1 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nestor de Godoi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 68 minutes into the match, Clube de Regatas Flalengo's goal looked a bit too open when Osmar de Moraes came free, but Nestor de Godoi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 69th minute, Valdo Nunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 75 played minutes Clube de Regatas Flalengo got a freekick which was hit by Emanuel Souto. After a rather tough play, Clube de Regatas Flalengo's Valdo Nunes got a free kick in the 77th minute. Michel Mertesacker struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Nestor de Godoi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Goiás Esporte Clube. 80 minutes into the game, Osmar de Moraes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Nestor de Godoi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Amílton do Nascimento in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nestor de Godoi saved Clube de Regatas Flalengo from getting behind. In the 87th minute, Edgard Cabral ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nestor de Godoi was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-1. Nestor de Godoi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amílton do Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 96th match minute, Clube de Regatas Flalengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tarcisio Fantini to maneuver through the defense. Goiás Esporte Clube's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
