With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benjamim Cerezo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dinei Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Benjamim Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Betinho Godoi fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Taipinha AD's protests and gave Betinho Godoi a yellow card for diving instead. In the 8th match minute, Taipinha AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betinho Godoi to maneuver through the defense. In the 12th minute, Falcão Paiva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jerônimo Romero struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Benjamim Cerezo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mauriti. 18 minutes into the game, Falcão Paiva cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Daniel Simão was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mathias Pombal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute Jerônimo Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamim Cerezo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Dinei Tinoco came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Mauriti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dinei Tinoco couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Taipinha AD defense, Jerônimo Romero kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benjamim Cerezo. The Taipinha AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benjamim Cerezo should have stopped the shot. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mauriti's goalkeeper Daniel Simão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Taipinha AD players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mauriti were winning 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jerônimo Romero to make the kick off. In the 57th minute, Clóvis de Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 58th minute, Zé Carlos Mendonça sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Mauriti's Daniel Simão didn't even have to move. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mathias Pombal couldn't finish the play. Daniel Simão stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mathias Pombal's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. The supporters of Mauriti booed when Taipinha AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jarbas Galvão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel de Castro, 92 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Mauriti had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
