After 5 minutes OvO FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jefferson Bezerra who took care of the corner kick. Jefferson Bezerra made a great header on Shamrock United's corner, it was just that OvO FC's Joélson Fonseca managed to reach the ball for a save. If Carlos Eduardo Alvarenga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Valdomiro Nascimento during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 18th minute, Valdomiro Nascimento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Shamrock United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Valdomiro Nascimento could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Joélson Fonseca made a huge save. Joélson Fonseca was out of position in the 31 minute of play, and Carlos Eduardo Alvarenga capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Carlos Eduardo Alvarenga really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. After some careless play in the OvO FC defense, Valdomiro Nascimento kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joélson Fonseca. The OvO FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joélson Fonseca should have stopped the shot. In the 39th minute, Carlos Eduardo Alvarenga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Wanderson Rosado kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Joélson Fonseca. That made the score 4-0 in the 44 minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlos Eduardo Alvarenga to strike the kick off in the second half. There was no doubt that Shamrock United were the better team. Shamrock United's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
