Jaime Baiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Efraim Morais in the 5th minute of play. In the 6th minute, Efraim Morais left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The C.A.Guimarães fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A collision led to C.A.Guimarães getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Donato Favoretto hit a great ball. In the 12thth minute of the game Efraim Morais who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CAMPINAS's Jaime Baiano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Dorival Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Efraim Morais came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the C.A.Guimarães fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Efraim Morais couldn't finish the play. Dida Proença who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Lartaun Ibar when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of CAMPINAS booed when C.A.Guimarães was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Well-Well Puč didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lartaun Ibar made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Zé Berger sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Dorival Toledo put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Jaime Baiano. Lartaun Ibar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ademar Queiroz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute CAMPINAS were awarded a corner. Raí Peixoto went to the cornerflag to take it. Dorival Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Efraim Morais sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jaime Baiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorival Toledo in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Ademar Queiroz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lartaun Ibar was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. After the first half C.A.Guimarães were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Efraim Morais made a kick off. Efraim Morais received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Jaime Baiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Efraim Morais could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Jaime Baiano made a huge save. C.A.Guimarães's Lartaun Ibar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dida Proença in the 60th minute of play. In the 64th minute Dida Proença shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lartaun Ibar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Efraim Morais had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dorival Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jaime Baiano having to interfere. 69 minutes into the match, C.A.Guimarães's goal looked a bit too open when Remo Salgado came free, but Lartaun Ibar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A well placed Dorival Toledo short distance shot in the 71st minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. When the match clock showed 78 minutes, the score became 1-6 when Dorival Toledo sped through CAMPINAS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jaime Baiano. With a little luck, CAMPINAS's Jaime Baiano got control of the ball when Peter Unesson tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ademar Queiroz during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Zé Berger fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CAMPINAS's protests and gave Zé Berger a yellow card for diving instead. After 91 played minutes CAMPINAS got a freekick which was hit by Zé Berger. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Peter Unesson managed to get in a good position for a shot. C.A.Guimarães's supporters rose to their feet, but Peter Unesson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jaime Baiano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jaime Baiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dorival Toledo, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. When the match was over C.A.Guimarães could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than CAMPINAS throughout the match.
