But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manfredo de Andrade couldn't finish the play. Kléberson Brodel succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 23rd playminute. After a rather tough play, Magnatas's Nilmar Pernambucano got a free kick in the 25th minute. Nilmar Pernambucano struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Celso Galvão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Magnatas. 31 minutes into the game, Lenílson Pena cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Celso Galvão was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Celso Galvão came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Magnatas's Lenílson Pena. But to his dismay, Lenílson Pena quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. In the 40th minute, Vicente Amorim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 42nd minute, Zé Roberto Velasco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Celso Galvão was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. Celso Galvão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Donato in the 45th minute of play. Cacá Leal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Danilo Terra made a huge save. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-5.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Lenílson Pena in the 59th minute of play forced Trombetas's goalkeeper Celso Galvão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Celso Galvão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lenílson Pena in the 61st minute of play. After 62 played minutes Magnatas got a freekick which was hit by Zé Roberto Velasco. In the 72nd minute, Kléberson Brodel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zé Roberto Velasco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celso Galvão having to interfere. In the 80th minute Lenílson Pena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celso Galvão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
