Paulas's supporters rose to their feet, but Jânio Bertassi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elias Cosme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Leonardo Aparecido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robinho Britto, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Mário Meirelles charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mário Meirelles the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jânio Bertassi in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elias Cosme saved Singularity from getting behind. A sloppy throw-in by Marcelinho Pontes in the 16th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Paulas's Tomás Sergipano. Elias Cosme stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jânio Bertassi's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. When Jânio Bertassi came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Paulas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jânio Bertassi couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jânio Bertassi got free with Elias Cosme in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Elias Cosme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilmar Reis, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Jânio Bertassi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Elias Cosme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paulas's Tomás Sergipano quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Marcelinho Pontes, made in the 34th minute of the game. In the 37th minute Jânio Bertassi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elias Cosme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jânio Bertassi in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elias Cosme saved Singularity from getting behind. Geraldo da Cunha kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Jânio Bertassi made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Paulas's goal looked a bit too open when Mazinho Arósio came free, but Leonardo Aparecido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 57th minute, Jânio Bertassi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elias Cosme was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Robinho Britto charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Robinho Britto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Paulas booed when Singularity was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robinho Britto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elias Cosme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jânio Bertassi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jânio Bertassi struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Elias Cosme didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paulas. Jânio Bertassi might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elias Cosme. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jânio Bertassi ran back to his position shaking his head. Elias Cosme stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nilmar Catarinense's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. In the 89th minute Jânio Bertassi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elias Cosme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 92 minutes into the game, Jânio Bertassi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-1. Elias Cosme was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Paulas fully deserved thier win.
