The supporters of Grêmio Garibaldi booed when S.C. Internacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gugu Ortiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th minute of the match, Osvaldo da Mata got a very nice opportunity to score, but Juninho Brito was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 11th match minute, Grêmio Garibaldi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cacá Brasil to maneuver through the defense. Juninho Brito was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Rei Pelle showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 14 minute of play. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 31 minutes into the game, Rei Pelle recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Juninho Brito. Rei Pelle showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. After a defensive mix-up in Grêmio Garibaldi's zone, Osvaldo da Mata stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juninho Brito came out of the goal and Osvaldo da Mata tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Juninho Brito was a little too slow when Osvaldo da Mata got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 47th minute. The score was now 6-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 6-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Osvaldo da Mata to make the kick off. 56 minutes into the game, S.C. Internacional's Rei Pelle nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Juninho Brito made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. In the 60th minute, Hubert Pihl left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The S.C. Internacional fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-0. In the 64th minute Osvaldo da Mata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juninho Brito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juninho Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rei Pelle in the 65th minute of the match. Bruno Meira charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rei Pelle in the 86th minute of play forced Grêmio Garibaldi's goalkeeper Juninho Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juninho Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hubert Pihl, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 88 played minutes S.C. Internacional got a freekick which was hit by Gugu Ortiz. In the 93rd match minute, Grêmio Garibaldi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yuri Paraense to maneuver through the defense. Juninho Brito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osvaldo da Mata, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. S.C. Internacional walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
