The Carinhatas F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Douglas Motta should have stopped the shot. 18 minutes into the game, Paulinho Nogueira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carinhatas F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vila Nova Futebol Clube the free kick. After a rather tough play, Carinhatas F.C's Paulinho Nogueira got a free kick in the 18th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Carinhatas F.C's zone, Gino Vinhas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Douglas Motta came out of the goal and Gino Vinhas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Denílson Araújo to strike the kick off in the second half. When Túlio Silva fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vila Nova Futebol Clube's protests and gave Túlio Silva a yellow card for diving instead. After 52 played minutes Vila Nova Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Túlio Silva. Elder Trigo made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Denílson Araújo sent off a good shot on target. In the 77th minute, Jarbas Coutinho sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Vila Nova Futebol Clube's Elder Trigo didn't even have to move. After 81 played minutes Carinhatas F.C got a freekick which was hit by Davi Goiano. 89 minutes into the match, Carinhatas F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Gino Vinhas came free, but Douglas Motta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edu Moreno hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Jorginho Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carinhatas F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Jorginho Valle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elder Trigo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 96 played minutes Carinhatas F.C got a freekick which was hit by Davi Goiano. Vila Nova Futebol Clube walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
