Virgílio França made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Água Cristal FC's Virgílio França played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuel Cardozo in the 7th minute of play. 9 minutes into the game, Júnior Corrêa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Virgílio França. Júnior Corrêa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Virgílio França showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júnior Corrêa, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Zeca Jacinto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Ciro Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Júnior Corrêa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Virgílio França made a huge save. A collision led to Água Cristal FC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Geraldo Bittencourt hit a great ball. Virgílio França didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Júnior Corrêa went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vladimir Magalhães during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 23rd minute, Vladimir Magalhães hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 24 played minutes, Finus F.C.'s César Baptista shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Virgílio França came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Finus F.C. reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when João de Andrade got free with Virgílio França in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 27th minute Samuel Cardozo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgílio França saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Água Cristal FC's Virgílio França got control of the ball when João de Andrade tried to sneak it across the goal line. Finus F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by César Baptista in the 38th minute. The corner led Finus F.C.'s César Baptista to fire away a dangerous shot which Virgílio França despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Água Cristal FC's Virgílio França proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Água Cristal FC from getting a goal against them. In the 47th minute, Álvaro Prestes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Geraldo Bittencourt was the one to do the kick off. Geraldo Bittencourt did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 3-1 to the left of a surprised Ciro Brito 53 minutes into the match. In the 56th minute of the game Bebeto Marquez made a throw-in which João de Andrade played forward. Água Cristal FC's Virgílio França played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Júnior Corrêa in the 57th minute of play. Virgílio França showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júnior Corrêa, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Virgílio França took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Júnior Corrêa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 67th minute there was a penalty for Finus F.C.. César Baptista stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Virgílio França. 4-1. Jairo dos Santos charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jairo dos Santos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Finus F.C. getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Jairo dos Santos hit a great ball. Álvaro Prestes was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 76th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 81 minutes into the match, Júnior Corrêa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Virgílio França. Água Cristal FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Júnior Corrêa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-1. Virgílio França made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgílio Saldanha in the 86th minute of play. Água Cristal FC's Virgílio França played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elias Mello in the 95th minute of play. Robinho Damião took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 97th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Virgílio França. Água Cristal FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Finus F.C.'s fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
