São Paulo Luz's Raphael Donato proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save São Paulo Luz from getting a goal against them. Rui Arantes was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 28th minute. Fortaleza Esporte Clube's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After 29 minutes of play, Fortaleza Esporte Clube's Ludomir Golembiewski made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Raphael Donato was left in no man's land by his defense there! Raphael Donato made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cássio Zago in the 38th minute. Raphael Donato was a little too slow when Cássio Zago got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 44th minute. The score was now 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ludomir Golembiewski stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. São Paulo Luz's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ludomir Golembiewski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Cássio Zago struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Raphael Donato didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fortaleza Esporte Clube. Ludomir Golembiewski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Raphael Donato tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rui Arantes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raphael Donato having to interfere. São Paulo Luz's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fortaleza Esporte Clube the free kick. Sandro Carvalho came free with the goalkeeper in the 94th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Walmir Reis could save by the left post. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Fortaleza Esporte Clube had played much better football throughout.
