The supporters of Electric Warriors booed when Fortaleza Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vito Arruda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Walmir Reis was a little too slow when José Paulo Meirelles got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 11th minute. The score was now 1-0. Walmir Reis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 9-0. 89 minutes into the match, Fortaleza Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando Aguiar came free, but Walmir Reis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Walmir Reis came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Electric Warriors's Antônio Vargas. But to his dismay, Antônio Vargas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 11-0. Walmir Reis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Vargas in the 99th minute of play.
