Zé Augusto de Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dênis Barreto in the 63rd minute of play. Cássio Arruda was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Egídio Neto showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-5 in the 83 minute of play. 85 minutes into the game, Bernardinho Couto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. EC Bahia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vicenzi the free kick.
