Zé Augusto de Brito breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Elói Schmidt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vitório Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Augusto de Brito having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Denílson Sampaio in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zé Augusto de Brito prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to EC Bahia getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Lino de Moraes hit a great ball. 39 minutes into the match, Vitório Gonçalves notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of EC Bahia's Zé Augusto de Brito. Zé Augusto de Brito was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Denílson Sampaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Vânderson Porto's late challenge caught a Newtown EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vânderson Porto helped the player get up and apologised. In the 55th match minute, EC Bahia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vânderson Porto to maneuver through the defense. Denílson Sampaio who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Zé Augusto de Brito when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 59 played minutes Newtown EC got a freekick which was hit by Vitório Gonçalves. After 62 minutes of play, Newtown EC's Elói Schmidt made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zé Augusto de Brito was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of EC Bahia booed when Newtown EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denílson Sampaio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jefferson Amorim's late challenge caught a EC Bahia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. Newtown EC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
