André Luís Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anselmo Garcia having to interfere. Anselmo Garcia made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Marcus Monteiro sent off a good shot on target. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Franklin Silva stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Franklin Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabiano Pimenta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 53 minutes, Marcus Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Piaui's André Luís Castro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Anselmo Garcia in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Piaui's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
