Piaui's supporters rose to their feet, but André Luís Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernandinho Dionísio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. During the 75th minute of the match Frédson Mazza completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Frédson Mazza a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. When Maurinho Magalhães came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Piaui fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maurinho Magalhães couldn't finish the play. Piaui's Marcus Monteiro got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 80th minute, Sydney Paraense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bernardinho de Barros in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fernandinho Dionísio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Bernardinho de Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piaui's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernardinho de Barros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Piaui had held the ball for most of the match.
