Though ot was a great shot Therezina's keeper Vitório Seco was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Vitório Seco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laércio Tepedino, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After having played for 23 minutes, Paulinho Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Therezina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulinho Carioca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Therezina's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paulinho Cunha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. In the 37th minute, Laércio Tepedino reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Vitório Seco. The goal made the score 6-0. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Ivo Carioca took a quick shot and it went in 7-0 without a chance for Vitório Seco to make any attempt to save it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nico Motta during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Therezina getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Nico Motta hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulinho Cunha to strike the kick off in the second half. Paulinho Carioca's late challenge caught a Red BuL Sao Carlos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paulinho Carioca helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Therezina getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Paulinho Carioca hit a great ball. Charles Soares hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. During the 70th minute of the match Thomás Maia completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Thomás Maia a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Therezina getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Nico Motta hit a great ball. The audience held their breath when Fernandinho Fernandez in the 73rd minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Vitório Seco's left hand side. In the 76th minute Laércio Tepedino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitório Seco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Therezina's goalkeeper Vitório Seco, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
