Spectators: 6661 (Terracing: 5661, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Red BuL Sao Carlos's Paulinho Cunha started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the game, Cristian Abreu threw the ball into play from the sideline. Red BuL Sao Carlos's Bertil Gustafsson quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 7th minute, Dito Silva ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ernesto Cerezo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 10 played minutes Curupira EC got a freekick which was hit by Joel de Souza. Ernesto Cerezo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hernani Velasco in the 13th minute of play. Ernesto Cerezo came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Curupira EC's Fred Breckenfeld. But to his dismay, Fred Breckenfeld quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. From close distance Paulinho Cunha pressed in the 1-2 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 20 minutes into the game. After a rather tough play, Curupira EC's Mazinho Freire got a free kick in the 29th minute. After 30 played minutes Curupira EC got a freekick which was hit by Joel de Souza. Joel de Souza took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ernesto Cerezo. Ernesto Cerezo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Pedrinho Andrade made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paulinho Cunha in the 37th minute. If Laércio Tepedino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Curupira EC getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Nilmar Paraibano hit a great ball. Ernesto Cerezo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hernani Velasco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Red BuL Sao Carlos players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Curupira EC were winning 1-3.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulinho Cunha in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pedrinho Andrade prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ernesto Cerezo made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Dito Silva sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Breckenfeld in the 63rd minute of play forced Red BuL Sao Carlos's goalkeeper Ernesto Cerezo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hernani Velasco kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Paulinho Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Red BuL Sao Carlos's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulinho Cunha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedrinho Andrade breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 70 minutes into the match, Red BuL Sao Carlos's goal looked a bit too open when Fred Breckenfeld came free, but Ernesto Cerezo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tiburcio Gizon hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. In the 75th minute Paulinho Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrinho Andrade saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Dito Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 80 played minutes Curupira EC got a freekick which was hit by Mazinho Freire. Pedrinho Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernandinho Fernandez in the 81st minute of the match. Fred Breckenfeld's late challenge caught a Red BuL Sao Carlos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fred Breckenfeld helped the player get up and apologised. The throw-in from Nilmar Paraibano in the 85th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Red BuL Sao Carlos's Cipriano Vieira. Curupira EC's Pedrinho Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulinho Cunha in the 86th minute of play. After having played for 90 minutes, Kauã Sá managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Red BuL Sao Carlos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kauã Sá was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Curupira EC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Curupira EC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
