Ernesto Cerezo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Romário Rezende showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 14 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Red BuL Sao Carlos's zone, Romário Rezende stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernesto Cerezo came out of the goal and Romário Rezende tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 18 minutes into the match, Red BuL Sao Carlos's goal looked a bit too open when Luciano Monteiro came free, but Ernesto Cerezo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Murilo Dias charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Murilo Dias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd minute, one of Murupu EC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Murupu EC. 28 minutes into the match, Red BuL Sao Carlos's Ivo Carioca sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that David de Alcântara narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luizinho Koehler hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. In the 35th minute, Laércio Tepedino made a precise shot to the right of David de Alcântara. Murupu EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulinho Cunha in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck David de Alcântara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ernesto Cerezo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romário Rezende in the 45th minute of the match. Ernesto Cerezo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luciano Monteiro in the 46th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

In the 66th minute of the match Murupu EC got a corner. Red BuL Sao Carlos's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Romário Rezende ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Romário Rezende almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Red BuL Sao Carlos's Ernesto Cerezo did a great save. A collision led to Red BuL Sao Carlos getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Paulinho Cunha hit a great ball. Red BuL Sao Carlos's Laércio Tepedino got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 72 minutes, Paulinho Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Red BuL Sao Carlos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulinho Cunha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 74 played minutes Murupu EC got a freekick which was hit by Maurinho Pitta. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Tepedino in the 75th minute of play forced Murupu EC's goalkeeper David de Alcântara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 78th minute, Luciano Monteiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Murupu EC's David de Alcântara got control of the ball when Kauã Sá tried to sneak it across the goal line. 82 minutes had been played when some careless play by Red BuL Sao Carlos's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Romário Rezende was slow to take the kick. During this time Murupu EC's players had a chance to rest. 84 minutes into the game, Luciano Monteiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Ernesto Cerezo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luciano Monteiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Ernesto Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Red BuL Sao Carlos's Kauã Sá got a free kick in the 90th minute. With a little luck, Murupu EC's David de Alcântara got control of the ball when Kauã Sá tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Red BuL Sao Carlos players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
