Mangarataia's Célio Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Perez in the 26th minute of play. After having played for 27 minutes, Paulo Perez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Formigueiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo Perez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Olavo Garcia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 31st minute, Miguel Severo fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Osvaldo Aparecido, passed just outside the right post. In the 34th minute of the match Aírton Brodel sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Osvaldo Aparecido skillfully saved the ball. When Josué de Queirós fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mangarataia's protests and gave Josué de Queirós a yellow card for diving instead. In the 45th minute, Josué de Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The wind increased when Paulo Perez made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Olavo Garcia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mangarataia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Raphael Palmeira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Raphael Palmeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célio Queiroz having to interfere. 90 minutes into the game, Jean Luz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mangarataia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Formigueiro the free kick. The supporters of Formigueiro booed when Mangarataia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jean Luz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Célio Queiroz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo Perez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Olavo Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mangarataia's supporters rose to their feet, but Olavo Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Osvaldo Aparecido breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Mangarataia's Miguel Severo in the 97th minute got a chance for a shot 97th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Formigueiro's goalie prevented a goal.
