Jardim Julia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Severino Schmidt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tales Moreira kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Fausto Coutinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Buritama Sport Club getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Eduardo Britto hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Olívio de Lima stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Olívio de Lima scored 1-0 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ronaldinho Dracena, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Severino Schmidt kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Paulo de Godoi. That made the score 1-1 in the 94 minute of play. Jardim Julia were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
