Roberto Barros helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Manaus-AM booed when Itabuna FC. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Laerte Tande had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 12 minutes into the game, Manaus-AM's Edu Massa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Artur Rezende made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Raimundo de Barros charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raimundo de Barros the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Raimundo de Barros hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Edu Massa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Manaus-AM's supporters rose to their feet, but Edu Massa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Artur Rezende breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Laerte Tande sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Gilvan Xavier took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Marcinho de Andrade to make any attempt to save it. A collision led to Manaus-AM getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Róbson Bertassi hit a great ball. A long shot from Betão da Silva in the 29th minute of play was well struck, but Marcinho de Andrade made a really good save at the right post. Sérgio Mumbach struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Marcinho de Andrade didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itabuna FC.. If Betão da Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 35th minute, Itabuna FC.'s Sérgio Mumbach ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Marcinho de Andrade. Marcinho de Andrade yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. After a defensive mix-up in Manaus-AM's zone, Sérgio Mumbach stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcinho de Andrade came out of the goal and Sérgio Mumbach tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Manaus-AM's Marcinho de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sérgio Mumbach in the 41st minute of play. When the match had gone on for 44 minutes, Sérgio Mumbach took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Marcinho de Andrade to make any attempt to save it. Betão da Silva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Marcinho de Andrade made a huge save.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Laerte Tande to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Betão da Silva made a precise shot to the right of Marcinho de Andrade. Manaus-AM's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. When Gilvan Xavier fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itabuna FC.'s protests and gave Gilvan Xavier a yellow card for diving instead. Gilvan Xavier hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laerte Tande in the 56th minute of play forced Itabuna FC.'s goalkeeper Artur Rezende to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 58 played minutes Itabuna FC. got a freekick which was hit by Roberto Barros. Manaus-AM's Marcinho de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Betão da Silva in the 61st minute of play. Marcinho de Andrade showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sérgio Mumbach, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. 63 minutes into the game, Itabuna FC.'s Betão da Silva nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. After some careless play in the Manaus-AM defense, Betão da Silva kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcinho de Andrade. The Manaus-AM fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcinho de Andrade should have stopped the shot. Artur Rezende took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edu Massa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 84 minutes of play, Itabuna FC.'s Betão da Silva made it 8-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcinho de Andrade was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Betão da Silva in the 87th minute of play forced Manaus-AM's goalkeeper Marcinho de Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Betão da Silva took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcinho de Andrade. Marcinho de Andrade dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 9-1. Marcinho de Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betão da Silva in the 95th minute of play. There was no doubt that Itabuna FC. were the better team. Itabuna FC.'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
