Alfredo Vides's late challenge caught a Rumpelstiltiskin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfredo Vides helped the player get up and apologised. When Geraldo Saldanha fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santa Cruz FC PE's protests and gave Geraldo Saldanha a yellow card for diving instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Pedro Paulo Mangueira struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Gildo Diniz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rumpelstiltiskin. A hard shot 100 in the game by Carlos Alberto Rocha from a close distance when the talented Gildo Diniz managed to make a qualified save. Santa Cruz FC PE's players were relieved. Rumpelstiltiskin were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
