In the 9th minute, Jarbas Marinho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Benfica AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 13 minutes into the match, Benfica AD's goalkeeper Aloísio de Mendonça had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Artemio Cisco. Fred Peixoto hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Charles Martins hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Hermínio França's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Simon Ieltxu was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. 18 minutes into the game, Romário Salles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aloísio de Mendonça showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 26th minute, Artemio Cisco made a precise shot to the right of Aloísio de Mendonça. Benfica AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Artemio Cisco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Aloísio de Mendonça made a huge save. In the 31st minute Cléber Britto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aloísio de Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Simon Ieltxu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jarbas Marinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Ourinhos FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Charles Martins to make the kick off. If Hermínio França had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hermínio França got free with Simon Ieltxu in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jairo de Sousa's late challenge caught a Benfica AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jairo de Sousa helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ourinhos FC's Jairo de Sousa got a free kick in the 58th minute. Ourinhos FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Jarbas Marinho 60 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-2. Ourinhos FC were furious when Benê dos Santos was red carded, 65 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 65 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ourinhos FC! A collision led to Benfica AD getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Jarbas Marinho hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artemio Cisco in the 73rd minute of play forced Benfica AD's goalkeeper Aloísio de Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aloísio de Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cléber Britto, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. After some careless play in the Benfica AD defense, Artemio Cisco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aloísio de Mendonça. The Benfica AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aloísio de Mendonça should have stopped the shot.
