In the 17th minute, Emerson Pinho fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Gildo Cosme scored 0-1 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gláuber Rosado, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gildo Cosme in the 29th minute of play forced Arcoverde's goalkeeper Gláuber Rosado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th match minute, Arcoverde was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dráuzio Dionísio to maneuver through the defense. Gláuber Rosado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gildo Cosme in the 36th minute of the match. Gláuber Rosado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hermínio França's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. The audience was convinced that Osvaldo Vianna's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gláuber Rosado was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Fred Peixoto hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 43rd minute, one of Benfica AD:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Benfica AD. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emerson Pinho was the one to do the kick off. Arcoverde's Gláuber Rosado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Osvaldo Vianna in the 52nd minute of play. Gláuber Rosado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Osvaldo Vianna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Benfica AD defense, Emerson Pinho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aloísio de Mendonça. The Benfica AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aloísio de Mendonça should have stopped the shot. Fred Peixoto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gláuber Rosado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Fred Peixoto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 66th match minute, Arcoverde was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natã das Neves to maneuver through the defense. Emerson Pinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Aloísio de Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Acácio Netto hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Fred Peixoto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gláuber Rosado having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gildo Cosme in the 78th minute of play forced Arcoverde's goalkeeper Gláuber Rosado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 79 minutes into the match, Benfica AD's goal looked a bit too open when Jairo Ceresso came free, but Aloísio de Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Benfica AD getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Fred Peixoto hit a great ball. Aloísio de Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Ceresso in the 85th minute of play. In the 85th minute, Gildo Cosme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jairo Ceresso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aloísio de Mendonça having to interfere. Benfica AD's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
