Arcoverde's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Copioba the free kick. Yuri Cordeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emerson Pinho in the 18th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jairo Ceresso in the 21st minute of play forced Copioba's goalkeeper Yuri Cordeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Copioba's Yuri Cordeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emerson Pinho in the 23rd minute of play. After having played for 28 minutes, Jairo Ceresso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arcoverde's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jairo Ceresso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Copioba booed when Arcoverde was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Abraão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Naldo Peixoto might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gláuber Rosado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Naldo Peixoto ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 34 minutes, Dagoberto de Queiroz took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Gláuber Rosado to make any attempt to save it. Dráuzio Dionísio hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Naldo Peixoto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Gláuber Rosado made a huge save. After 40 played minutes Arcoverde got a freekick which was hit by Natã das Neves. If Dagoberto de Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Yuri Cordeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jairo Ceresso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Naldo Peixoto got free with Gláuber Rosado in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Naldo Peixoto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Dagoberto de Queiroz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gláuber Rosado was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Emerson Pinho kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Yuri Cordeiro. That made the score 1-1 in the 54 minute of play. In the 68th minute Dagoberto de Queiroz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gláuber Rosado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Naldo Peixoto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gláuber Rosado having to interfere. Yuri Cordeiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dráuzio Dionísio in the 75th minute. Jaime Lucas's late challenge caught a Arcoverde's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jaime Lucas helped the player get up and apologised. Jaime Lucas kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. If Jairo Ceresso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dagoberto de Queiroz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gláuber Rosado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. Júlio Pernambucano kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
