In the 12th minute Valdir Gaúcho suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Doriva Paranaense charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Doriva Paranaense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Itajara AD made a substitution. Paulo Renato Brasil replaced Valdir Gaúcho. In the 14th minute, Doriva Paranaense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lauro Leme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adelino Meira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Atlético Cruz's Umberto Batista got control of the ball when Cipriano Capixaba tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Haroldo Custódio during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Itajara AD booed when Atlético Cruz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Custódio didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cipriano Capixaba got free with Umberto Batista in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Haroldo Custódio came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Atlético Cruz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Haroldo Custódio couldn't finish the play. In the 40th minute, Haroldo Custódio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético Cruz fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Umberto Batista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Natanael Domingues in the 46th minute of play.

56 minutes into the match, Atlético Cruz's goal looked a bit too open when Léo Souza came free, but Umberto Batista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Umberto Batista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Léo Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Adelino Meira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 69th minute, Eliseu Paulista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Léo Souza in the 73rd minute of play forced Atlético Cruz's goalkeeper Umberto Batista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Ernani Dantas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atlético Cruz's supporters rose to their feet, but Ernani Dantas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lauro Leme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eurico Capixaba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Lauro Leme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lauro Leme made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Haroldo Custódio sent off a good shot on target. When Eurico Capixaba fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlético Cruz's protests and gave Eurico Capixaba a yellow card for diving instead. After 83 played minutes Atlético Cruz got a freekick which was hit by Eurico Capixaba. Umberto Batista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Léo Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lauro Leme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Haroldo Custódio, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Igor de Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lauro Leme having to interfere. After having played for 91 minutes, Adelino Meira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Cruz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adelino Meira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Atlético Cruz's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
