The Laje de Pedra fans' excitement grew in the 5th match minute when Laje de Pedra's Romário Baggio looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romário Baggio got free with Lauro Leme in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 18th minute Romário Baggio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lauro Leme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Laje de Pedra's goal looked a bit too open when Léo Souza came free, but Luisinho Martins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luisinho Martins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cipriano Capixaba in the 25th minute of the match. The supporters of Itajara AD booed when Laje de Pedra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doriva de Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cipriano Capixaba took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luisinho Martins. Luisinho Martins dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. After a rather tough play, Laje de Pedra's Anthon Gullesson got a free kick in the 42nd minute. In the 45th minute Léo Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisinho Martins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 47 minutes into the match, Laje de Pedra's goal looked a bit too open when Cipriano Capixaba came free, but Luisinho Martins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Léo Souza in the 49th minute of play forced Laje de Pedra's goalkeeper Luisinho Martins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Laje de Pedra players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Itajara AD were winning 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cipriano Capixaba to make the kick off. Lauro Leme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Themis Kalokerinos, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 57th minute, Cipriano Capixaba made a precise shot to the right of Luisinho Martins. Laje de Pedra's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Lauro Leme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romário Baggio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 68th minute, Cipriano Capixaba ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luisinho Martins was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Dalmo Penha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Laje de Pedra's supporters rose to their feet, but Dalmo Penha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lauro Leme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 73 minutes of play, Laje de Pedra's Romário Baggio made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lauro Leme was left in no man's land by his defense there! 76 minutes into the match, Romário Baggio notched a goal, 3-4, to the right of Itajara AD's Lauro Leme. Lauro Leme was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Laje de Pedra's zone, Cipriano Capixaba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luisinho Martins came out of the goal and Cipriano Capixaba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Valdir Paraíba hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Itajara AD defense, Romário Baggio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lauro Leme. The Itajara AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lauro Leme should have stopped the shot. In the 96th minute Dalmo Penha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lauro Leme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romário Baggio scored 5-4 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lauro Leme, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
