Flávio Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Conrado Pirani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Thanks to some nice moves Flávio Fonseca could shoot a difficult shot in the 57th minute, which Conrado Pirani however easily saved by the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Fernando Cardoso in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Conrado Pirani saved LOS BAIANOS from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Flávio Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Corinthians's supporters rose to their feet, but Flávio Fonseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Conrado Pirani breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Válter Magalhães during the 71st minute. Rafa Marquez charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rafa Marquez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Corinthians booed when LOS BAIANOS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafa Marquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Corinthians's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
