Lucas Pitta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Douglas Catarinense in the 4th minute of play. The attack was good, but when Virgílio Gomes in the 5th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Neves in the 13th minute of play forced Corinthians's goalkeeper Lucas Pitta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Virgílio Gomes in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lucas Pitta saved Corinthians from getting behind. Acácio Catarinense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luís Fernando Cardoso's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. In the 24th minute, Douglas Catarinense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Dito Mendonça in the 25th minute really tested Acácio Catarinense's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Lucas Pitta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oscar Neves in the 29th minute of the match. 33 minutes into the game, Fausto Nunes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corinthians's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave União da Mata the free kick. Fausto Nunes kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Corinthians's Acácio Catarinense threw himself towards the right post 46 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luís Fernando Cardoso, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luís Fernando Cardoso made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Flávio Fonseca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 55 minutes, Lucas Pitta successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 64 minutes into the match, União da Mata's goal looked a bit too open when Flávio Fonseca came free, but Acácio Catarinense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Acácio Catarinense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Fernando Cardoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. In the 68th minute, Luís Fernando Cardoso left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Corinthians fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. 72 minutes into the game, Virgílio Gomes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Lucas Pitta was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 74 minutes into the match, Oscar Neves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lucas Pitta. Corinthians's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oscar Neves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. Virgílio Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucas Pitta having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Neves in the 80th minute of play forced Corinthians's goalkeeper Lucas Pitta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Corinthians getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Carlos Fernando Donatello hit a great ball. Lucas Pitta made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Virgílio Gomes sent off a good shot on target. Flávio Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Acácio Catarinense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dito Mendonça lost his temper 96 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 95 minutes into the game, one of Corinthians:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match was over União da Mata could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Corinthians throughout the match.
