The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee felt a red card was in order, 4 minutes into the game, when Waldir Ortiz put in a rough tackle. Dagoberto Cerezo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Válbson Hoffmann came out and tried to block the shot, but Dagoberto Cerezo slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 10th minute. Válbson Hoffmann was a little too slow when Chicão Batista got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 13th minute. The score was now 3-0. Chicão Batista could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Válbson Hoffmann made a huge save. The supporters of Deficit Capixaba booed when DICAOL FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilson Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, DICAOL FC's Dagoberto Cerezo got a free kick in the 20th minute. If Bernardo de Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chicão Batista charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Chicão Batista the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Deficit Capixaba booed when DICAOL FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chicão Batista didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Deficit Capixaba's Válbson Hoffmann got control of the ball when Chicão Batista tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 36th minute Frédson Pimenta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emílio Prestes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Chicão Batista could shoot a difficult shot in the 40th minute, which Válbson Hoffmann however easily saved by the left post. If Bernardo de Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of DICAOL FC booed when Deficit Capixaba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frédson Pimenta didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Dagoberto Cerezo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Adelino de Andrade fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored DICAOL FC's protests and gave Adelino de Andrade a yellow card for diving instead. After 48 played minutes DICAOL FC got a freekick which was hit by Adelino de Andrade. 49 minutes into the match, DICAOL FC's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardo de Amorim came free, but Emílio Prestes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dagoberto Cerezo to make the kick off. Bernardo de Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emílio Prestes having to interfere. Deficit Capixaba's Válbson Hoffmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dagoberto Cerezo in the 58th minute of play. Adelino de Andrade hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Beto Souto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Emílio Prestes having to make a save. After a rather tough play, DICAOL FC's Nilson Montenegro got a free kick in the 71st minute. Adelino de Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Válbson Hoffmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 82 minutes, Bernardo de Amorim managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Deficit Capixaba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernardo de Amorim was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in DICAOL FC's zone, Frédson Pimenta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emílio Prestes came out of the goal and Frédson Pimenta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Frédson Pimenta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deficit Capixaba's supporters rose to their feet, but Frédson Pimenta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emílio Prestes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to DICAOL FC getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Luiz Guerra hit a great ball. Frédson Pimenta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nilson Montenegro struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Válbson Hoffmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for DICAOL FC. Frédson Pimenta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew the final whistle, DICAOL FC could leave the field as winners, despite Deficit Capixaba having more of the ball for most of the match.
