Andrézinho Gomes stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Mário Peres. 0-2. When Reginaldo Dionísio came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Desportiva Guarabira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reginaldo Dionísio couldn't finish the play. In the 41st minute, Andrézinho Gomes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 42 minutes into the match, Desportiva Guarabira's goal looked a bit too open when Juvenal Hoffmann came free, but Mário Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.
