Mário Peres was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 30th minute Reginaldo Dionísio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Messias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 33 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Washington Assis sped through Desportiva Guarabira's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Mário Peres. In the 63rd match minute, Clube Atlético Serrano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maicon Cardozo to maneuver through the defense. Washington Assis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Desportiva Guarabira's Mário Peres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Washington Assis in the 71st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Desportiva Guarabira's zone, Washington Assis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mário Peres came out of the goal and Washington Assis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Washington Assis in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mário Peres prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ediberto Brito took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mário Peres. Mário Peres dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. The audience was convinced that Ediberto Brito's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mário Peres was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. When Elivélton Amorim came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Desportiva Guarabira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elivélton Amorim couldn't finish the play. Clube Atlético Serrano's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
