Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Anselmo Moraes took the kick off in the first half of the match. Vítor Recife made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomás Medeiros in the 4th minute of play. After 5 played minutes Ituano got a freekick which was hit by Jorge de Azevedo. If Jorge de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 15 minutes into the match, Piracuruca's Kléber Moreno sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vítor Recife narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Carlinhos Furlan's late challenge caught a Piracuruca's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlinhos Furlan helped the player get up and apologised. Vítor Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kléber Moreno, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Piracuruca were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Ituano's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Igor Magalhães took the corner. The corner ended in Igor Magalhães almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ituano's Vítor Recife did a great save. After a defensive mix-up in Piracuruca's zone, Jorge de Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Agnaldo Meira came out of the goal and Jorge de Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Piracuruca booed when Ituano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge de Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Piracuruca's Vivaldo Mangueira got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Jorge de Azevedo came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Ituano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge de Azevedo couldn't finish the play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

56 minutes into the match, Ituano's goalkeeper Vítor Recife had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomás Medeiros. Tomás Medeiross short, quick shot in the 61stth minute got Vítor Recife to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Through an outstanding action, after 64 minutes, Vítor Recife successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 66th minute, William Cardoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Claudinho Arósio fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ituano's protests and gave Claudinho Arósio a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Ituano's Claudinho Arósio got a free kick in the 67th minute. After 70 played minutes Piracuruca got a freekick which was hit by Tomás Medeiros. Piracuruca's Tomás Medeiros got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jorge de Azevedo took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Agnaldo Meira. Agnaldo Meira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Miguel Pontes kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Piracuruca's Igor Magalhães tried to score from far away in the 89th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Ituano's defense didn't have a chance, in the 92nd minute, when Vivaldo Mangueira scored to the left of an out of position Vítor Recife, making the score, 1-1. After a rather tough play, Piracuruca's Agostinho Gomes got a free kick in the 95th minute. Ituano were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
