Carlinhos Lago charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carlinhos Lago the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos Alberto de Salles during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 8th minute, Carlos Alberto de Salles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Igor Magalhães in the 9th minute of play forced Iuna's goalkeeper Marcelo Schmidt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Tomás Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Válter Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 18 minutes into the match, William Cardoso had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcelo Schmidt. Iuna's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that William Cardoso was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After 20 played minutes Piracuruca got a freekick which was hit by Durvalino Moreira. Marcelo Schmidt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomás Medeiros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tomás Medeiros blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcelo Schmidt having to make a save. In the 33rd minute, Tomás Medeiros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Tomás Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piracuruca's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomás Medeiros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelo Schmidt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pedrinho Britto kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 44th minute Pedrinho Britto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Agnaldo Meira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Iuna's Marcelo Schmidt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomás Medeiros in the 46th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomás Medeiros to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Agostinho Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piracuruca's supporters rose to their feet, but Agostinho Gomes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelo Schmidt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 55 minutes into the match, Piracuruca's goal looked a bit too open when Pedrinho Britto came free, but Agnaldo Meira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Válter Toledo came free with the goalkeeper in the 57th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Agnaldo Meira could save by the left post. Vítor da Fonseca's late challenge caught a Iuna's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vítor da Fonseca helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Iuna booed when Piracuruca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vítor da Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. 69 minutes into the match, Iuna's goal looked a bit too open when Vivaldo Mangueira came free, but Marcelo Schmidt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Piracuruca's Agostinho Gomes got a free kick in the 71st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Piracuruca's zone, Pedrinho Britto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Agnaldo Meira came out of the goal and Pedrinho Britto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 79 minutes into the match, Iuna's goal looked a bit too open when Tomás Medeiros came free, but Marcelo Schmidt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 86 minutes into the match, Tomás Medeiros had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcelo Schmidt. Iuna's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomás Medeiros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. In the 94th minute, William Cardoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Piracuruca had played much better football throughout.
