In the 9th minute Tião Sá shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vítor Recife saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Matador EC's Tião Sá in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ituano's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Ituano's Vítor Guerra got a free kick in the 11th minute. Claudinho Arósio's late challenge caught a Matador EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudinho Arósio helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Matador EC booed when Ituano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinho Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute, Benedito Batista ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vítor Recife was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Vítor Recife made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benedito Batista in the 22nd minute. After 30 played minutes Matador EC got a freekick which was hit by Tião Sá. Doni Camargo struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Sandrinho Matorin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ituano. Ituano's Vítor Recife played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tião Sá in the 38th minute of play. Ituano's Anselmo Moraes got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Anselmo Moraes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Sandrinho Matorin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anselmo Moraes in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sandrinho Matorin saved Matador EC from getting behind. Ituano's Doni Camargo got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tião Sá was the one to do the kick off. Anselmo Moraes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vítor Guerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Sandrinho Matorin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 60 played minutes, Matador EC's Ronaldo Pimenta shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vítor Recife came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Matador EC reached it. In the 62nd minute, Miguel Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anselmo Moraess short, quick shot in the 65thth minute got Sandrinho Matorin to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Anselmo Moraes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 68thth minute tested the skills of Sandrinho Matorin when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Sandrinho Matorin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anselmo Moraes in the 73rd minute of play. Vítor Recife took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benedito Batista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 96th match minute, Ituano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vítor Guerra to maneuver through the defense. Ituano played a much better game than Matador EC and deserved their victory. The Matador EC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
