The Mendonca fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sílvio Luís Gaúcho should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Lago in the 44th minute of play forced Mendonca's goalkeeper Sílvio Luís Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
