José Paulo Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Marcel Kühlert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Branco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 10 played minutes Fanáticos got a freekick which was hit by Zé Roberto Amaral. 12 minutes into the game, José Augusto de Brito cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Luisinho Cavalcante was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Fanáticos's Luisinho Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Belmiro Porto in the 15th minute of play. Luisinho Cavalcante was a little too slow when José Paulo Dracena got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 16th minute. The score was now 2-0. When José Paulo Dracena fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Goiatuba E.C.'s protests and gave José Paulo Dracena a yellow card for diving instead. In the 23rd minute André Branco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Kühlert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. André Branco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 28 minutes of play, Goiatuba E.C.'s José Augusto de Brito made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luisinho Cavalcante was left in no man's land by his defense there! Belmiro Porto hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, José Augusto de Brito managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goiatuba E.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but José Augusto de Brito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luisinho Cavalcante breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Goiatuba E.C.'s José Augusto de Brito got a free kick in the 40th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Branco in the 43rd minute of play forced Goiatuba E.C.'s goalkeeper Marcel Kühlert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Goiatuba E.C. getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. César Leite hit a great ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Augusto de Brito to make the kick off. José Paulo Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 56th match minute, Goiatuba E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bartjan Pelsers to maneuver through the defense. Belmiro Porto's late challenge caught a Fanáticos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Belmiro Porto helped the player get up and apologised. After 61 played minutes Goiatuba E.C. got a freekick which was hit by Belmiro Porto. 63 minutes into the match, Fanáticos's goal looked a bit too open when José Augusto de Brito came free, but Luisinho Cavalcante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luisinho Cavalcante took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Paulo Dracena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 69th minute of the match Goiatuba E.C. got a corner. Fanáticos's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ramon Lugo ran over to the corner to take the kick. André Branco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. José Augusto de Brito blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luisinho Cavalcante having to make a save. In the 81st minute José Paulo Dracena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisinho Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcel Kühlert stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of André Branco's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. After 92 played minutes Goiatuba E.C. got a freekick which was hit by José Augusto de Brito. Marcel Kühlert made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Tales Simões sent off a good shot on target.
