An unexpectedly hard shot by Marquinhos de Medeiros in the 4th minute of play forced MARINOS F. C.'s goalkeeper Clóvis Mota to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 5 minutes into the game, Joel Teixeira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MARINOS F. C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Calheiros the free kick. Joel Teixeira kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. After having played for 12 minutes, Iuri Mangueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Calheiros's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iuri Mangueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Calheiros's Luiz Fernando Koehler couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 19th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for MARINOS F. C.. The supporters of Calheiros booed when MARINOS F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rony Breckenfeld didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Beto Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Calheiros's supporters rose to their feet, but Beto Santos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clóvis Mota breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Clóvis Mota made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Beto Santos in the 31st minute of play. If Beto Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 40 played minutes, Calheiros's Murillo Cabral shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Clóvis Mota came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Calheiros reached it. If Beto Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Laércio Massa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Clóvis Mota took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Beto Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 60th minute, Iuri Mangueira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Clóvis Mota was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Paulão Neiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 66th minute, Iuri Mangueira fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Clóvis Mota, passed just outside the right post. MARINOS F. C.'s Laércio Massa got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 73 minutes into the match, MARINOS F. C.'s goalkeeper Clóvis Mota had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Iuri Mangueira. When Rony Breckenfeld fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MARINOS F. C.'s protests and gave Rony Breckenfeld a yellow card for diving instead. After 76 played minutes MARINOS F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Rony Breckenfeld. Luiz Fernando Koehler took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Clóvis Mota. MARINOS F. C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 80 played minutes MARINOS F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Anselmo Mattos. Iuri Mangueira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Clóvis Mota read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. After 88 played minutes MARINOS F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Moisés Leme. After having played for 90 minutes, Iuri Mangueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Calheiros's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iuri Mangueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hamílton Carvalho hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Calheiros's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
