Marquinhos Duarte made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. E.C Foz Do Iguaçu's Dário Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cido Maia in the 38th minute of play. The supporters of E.C Foz Do Iguaçu booed when Demolidores was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matías de Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Pedro Terra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dário Cavalcante having to interfere. After the first half E.C Foz Do Iguaçu were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Marquinhos Duarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celsinho Mattos in the 57th minute of play. After 58 minutes, Cido Maia made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. E.C Foz Do Iguaçu's Dário Cavalcante tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, E.C Foz Do Iguaçu's Jean Barros got a free kick in the 61st minute. Dário Cavalcante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Pombal, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. In the 63rd match minute, E.C Foz Do Iguaçu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rubens Pernambucano to maneuver through the defense. If Bebeto Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dário Cavalcante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cido Maia, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. 71 minutes into the match, Cido Maia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dário Cavalcante. E.C Foz Do Iguaçu's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cido Maia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dedé Meira got free with Marquinhos Duarte in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vitinho Travassos's late challenge caught a Demolidores's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vitinho Travassos helped the player get up and apologised. After 77 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for E.C Foz Do Iguaçu! In the 87th minute, Cacá de Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marquinhos Duarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benjamin Romero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Demolidores walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
