Noel Neves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rubens Breckenfeld read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Bernardinho Aparecido kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Falcão Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valdemar Viana in the 39th minute of the match. If Valdemar Viana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Campestre's zone, Tião Pena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Falcão Goiano came out of the goal and Tião Pena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rubens Breckenfeld showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Noel Neves in the 47th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
