The referee showed Felipe Koehler the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. With 23 minutes on the clock, Cássio Nunes commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The supporters of Chateaubriand booed when Vila Nova F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cássio Nunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matías de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After the first half Chateaubriand were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Chiquinho Marinho made the kick off in the second half. Roberto Batista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chiquinho Marinho in the 53rd minute of the match. Roberto Batista made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Matías de Castro sent off a good shot on target. In the 56th minute, Matías de Castro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Roberto Batista was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. Chateaubriand's Isaltino Rossi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Koehler in the 60th minute of play. In the 62nd minute, Felipe Koehler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 63 minutes into the match, Chiquinho Marinho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roberto Batista. Vila Nova F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Chiquinho Marinho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-5. In the 68th minute, Erik Sanches made a precise shot to the right of Roberto Batista. Vila Nova F.C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-6. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chiquinho Marinho in the 72nd minute of play forced Vila Nova F.C's goalkeeper Roberto Batista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Chiquinho Marinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chiquinho Marinho in the 89th minute of play forced Vila Nova F.C's goalkeeper Roberto Batista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roberto Batista was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Elivélton Meireles showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-8 in the 94 minute of play. Chateaubriand played a much better game than Vila Nova F.C and deserved their victory. The Vila Nova F.C players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
