In the 11th minute, Vila Nova F.C's Cruz Gene dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Cruz Gene sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Cruz Gene had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Conrado Silveira charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Conrado Silveira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 19 minutes into the game, one of Flalemanha:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Vila Nova F.C's Roberto Batista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doni de Medeiros in the 23rd minute of play. In the 23rd match minute, Flalemanha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Célio Nunes to maneuver through the defense. Cruz Gene fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugênio Tepedino having to interfere. Vila Nova F.C's Roberto Batista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Augusto Mendonça in the 31st minute of play. After 36 played minutes Vila Nova F.C got a freekick which was hit by Cruz Gene. If Cruz Gene had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Célio Nunes in the 41st minute of play forced Vila Nova F.C's goalkeeper Roberto Batista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 43 played minutes Flalemanha got a freekick which was hit by Conrado Silveira. Roberto Batista came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Flalemanha's Célio Nunes. But to his dismay, Célio Nunes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Augusto Mendonça to make the kick off. Doni de Medeiros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Roberto Batista made a huge save. Célio Nunes received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Roberto Batista came out and tried to block the shot, but Célio Nunes slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 58th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Conrado Silveira got free with Roberto Batista in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 64 minutes into the match, Vila Nova F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Célio Nunes came free, but Roberto Batista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Vila Nova F.C's zone, José Augusto Mendonça stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roberto Batista came out of the goal and José Augusto Mendonça tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cruz Gene received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Eugênio Tepedino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vila Nova F.C's Cruz Gene got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luís Paulo Rosado hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Augusto Mendonça in the 93rd minute of play forced Vila Nova F.C's goalkeeper Roberto Batista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
