In the 5th minute, Luiz Fabiano Viana got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 6 minutes into the game, Luiz Fabiano Viana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Daniel Barreto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Guaracy getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Laerte Vides hit a great ball. 12 minutes into the match, Sampaio Fc's goalkeeper César Furlan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Róbson Velasco. César Furlan was a little too slow when Telmo Eger got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 14th minute. The score was now 1-1. In the 17th minute, Laerte Vides reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of César Furlan. The goal made the score 2-1. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Luiz Fabiano Viana sped through Guaracy's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Daniel Barreto. When Luiz Fabiano Viana came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Sampaio Fc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Fabiano Viana couldn't finish the play. Maicon Arantes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Daniel Barreto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Guaracy getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Natã Costa hit a great ball. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Laerte Vides stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Natã Costa charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Natã Costa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 67 played minutes Guaracy got a freekick which was hit by Natã Costa. When the match clock showed 68 minutes, the score became 2-5 when Luiz Fabiano Viana sped through Guaracy's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Daniel Barreto. 76 minutes into the match, Guaracy's goalkeeper Daniel Barreto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomé Mandrak. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laerte Vides in the 81st minute of play forced Sampaio Fc's goalkeeper César Furlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luiz Fabiano Viana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. César Furlan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laerte Vides, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 92 minutes into the game, Guaracy's Róbson Velasco nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. César Furlan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-5. César Furlan came out of the goal in the 96th minute to try and stop a shot by Guaracy's Laerte Vides. But to his dismay, Laerte Vides quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-5. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Sampaio Fc players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
