The crowd rose to their feet as Sampaio Fc's Luiz Fabiano Viana slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rodolfo Brasil. That made the score 1-0 after 3 minutes of play. A well placed Luiz Fabiano Viana short distance shot in the 7th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. Rodolfo Brasil made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Tomé Mandrak sent off a good shot on target. After 11 minutes of play, Sambaitiba's Leopoldo Faria made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. César Furlan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sambaitiba's Pedro Luís Meireles managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Toninho Pombal in the 18 minute of the game. Leopoldo Faria scored 2-3 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of César Furlan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 23rd minute, Conrado Neves fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Rodolfo Brasil, passed just outside the right post. Rodolfo Brasil was a little too slow when Luiz Fabiano Viana got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 29th minute. The score was now 3-3. Sampaio Fc's Luiz Fabiano Viana got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Fabiano Viana in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rodolfo Brasil saved Sambaitiba from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Fabiano Viana got free with Rodolfo Brasil in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 42 minutes of play, Sambaitiba's Leopoldo Faria made it 3-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. César Furlan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 3-4 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luiz Fabiano Viana was the one to do the kick off. Nelsinho Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Luiz Fabiano Viana's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rodolfo Brasil read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Fabiano Viana in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rodolfo Brasil saved Sambaitiba from getting behind. If Luiz Fabiano Viana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maicon Arantes's late challenge caught a Sambaitiba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Maicon Arantes helped the player get up and apologised. Sambaitiba's Sílvio Luís Domingues got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rodolfo Brasil stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luiz Fabiano Viana's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. Sampaio Fc's Luiz Fabiano Viana got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Sambaitiba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rodolfo Brasil should have stopped the shot. 89 minutes into the match, Sambaitiba's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Fabiano Viana came free, but Rodolfo Brasil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ernani Dias charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ernani Dias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Sampaio Fc's Maicon Arantes quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Edvaldo Coelho, made in the 94th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Sambaitiba's zone, Luiz Fabiano Viana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rodolfo Brasil came out of the goal and Luiz Fabiano Viana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Sambaitiba players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Sampaio Fc from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
