After having played for 6 minutes, Sílvio Luís Domingues managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sambaitiba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sílvio Luís Domingues was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Flalemanha's Eugênio Tepedino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leopoldo Faria in the 8th minute of play. Eugênio Tepedino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Luís Domingues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes into the match, Doni de Medeiros had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rodolfo Brasil. Sambaitiba's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Doni de Medeiros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When Edvaldo Coelho came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Sambaitiba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edvaldo Coelho couldn't finish the play. Gernando Simões made in the 29th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by José Augusto Mendonça. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edvaldo Coelho in the 31st minute of play forced Flalemanha's goalkeeper Eugênio Tepedino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34th minute, Nelsinho Barros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sambaitiba's Nelsinho Barros got his second yellow card of the match in the 36th minute. The referee ordered Nelsinho Barros off the ground. Edvaldo Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugênio Tepedino having to interfere. A sloppy throw-in by Gernando Simões in the 46th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Sambaitiba's Leopoldo Faria. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sílvio Luís Domingues made a kick off. After 54 played minutes Flalemanha got a freekick which was hit by Doni de Medeiros. 57 minutes into the game, Leopoldo Faria cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Eugênio Tepedino was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 62nd minute, Edvaldo Coelho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the last second Rodolfo Brasil throw himself and got hold of the ball when José Augusto Mendonça in the 64thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Sambaitiba's defense didn't have a chance, in the 65th minute, when Célio Nunes scored to the left of an out of position Rodolfo Brasil, making the score, 1-2. In the 69th minute, Edvaldo Coelho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rodolfo Brasil came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Flalemanha's Doni de Medeiros. But to his dismay, Doni de Medeiros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Célio Nunes got free with Rodolfo Brasil in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 76 minutes, Sílvio Luís Domingues managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rodolfo Brasil was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 87 minutes into the match, Sambaitiba's goal looked a bit too open when José Augusto Mendonça came free, but Rodolfo Brasil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 96 minutes into the match, Sambaitiba's goalkeeper Rodolfo Brasil had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Célio Nunes. The Flalemanha supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Flalemanha would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
